While we are a for-profit organization, our primary goal remains to allocate a substantial portion of our revenue to fund climate projects and drive meaningful change.

Carbon Footprint
How do I use Immurio's carbon calculator?
Using Immurio's carbon calculator is a straightforward process to assess your carbon footprint. First, visit our dedicated carbon calculator page at https://immurio.com/household-calculator. Next, you'll be prompted to answer a series of questions designed to estimate your carbon footprint accurately. These questions cover various aspects of your lifestyle and consumption habits. Once you've completed the questionnaire, the calculator will provide you with an estimate of your carbon footprint.
Additionally, the calculator will suggest actionable steps you can take to reduce your carbon footprint based on your responses. These actions are tailored to your individual circumstances and can help you make a positive impact on the environment.
What factors does the carbon calculator take into account when estimating my carbon footprint?
Immurio's carbon calculator considers several key factors when estimating your carbon footprint:
- Location: Your geographical location is a significant factor, as it determines factors such as the carbon intensity of your electricity grid and the availability of public transportation. Different regions have varying levels of carbon emissions associated with daily activities.
- Family Size: The calculator accounts for the size of your family or household, as each person contributes to the overall carbon footprint of the household.
- Transportation: It takes into account your mode of transportation, including whether you use a gas-powered car, public transport, or other forms of transportation.
- Energy Sources: The calculator considers the sources of energy you use for heating, cooling, and powering your home.
- Diet: Your dietary choices, including the consumption of meat, dairy, and other food items, can also impact your carbon footprint.
- Other Lifestyle Choices: Additional lifestyle factors, such as travel frequency and waste generation, are factored in to provide a comprehensive estimate.
These detailed inputs help provide a more precise estimation of your carbon emissions.
Can I calculate the carbon footprint of my business with Immurio's calculator?
You can calculate the carbon footprint of your household using Immurio's calculator by visiting https://immurio.com/household-calculator. However, at this time, our calculator is designed primarily for individuals and households. We do not currently offer a dedicated calculator for businesses.
If you believe that a business calculator would be valuable and would like to discuss the possibility of adding this feature, please feel free to reach out to us through our contact page at https://immurio.com/contact or by emailing us at support@immurio.com. We value your feedback and are open to exploring new ways to support sustainability efforts in various contexts.
Is my carbon footprint affected by my location and lifestyle?
Absolutely, your carbon footprint is significantly influenced by both your location and lifestyle. Among these factors, your geographical location plays the most substantial role in determining your carbon emissions. For example, individuals residing in regions with higher energy consumption and emissions tend to have larger carbon footprints compared to those in areas with greener energy sources and lower consumption.
While lifestyle choices such as transportation, diet, and energy usage also contribute to your carbon footprint, the geographical location often plays the most substantial role. This is because the energy mix and infrastructure of your area dictate the carbon intensity of services like electricity and transportation. It's essential to consider both factors when assessing and offsetting your carbon footprint to make a meaningful impact on reducing your environmental impact.
Why do you recommend not itemizing my emissions?
We recommend focusing on the broader aspects of your carbon footprint rather than itemizing emissions for several reasons. Firstly, the most significant contributors to your carbon footprint are your geographical location and the size of your household, which overshadow the impact of individual items or activities. Itemizing emissions may not yield substantial changes in your overall carbon footprint.
However, if you are curious or want to gain a deeper understanding of your emissions sources, you are welcome to itemize them using our calculator. Nevertheless, our primary recommendation is to offset emissions based on the recommended amount for the average household in your location, as this approach is a practical and impactful way to make a positive environmental difference.
